Fifteen new high-quality buses with capacity of 60 seats each were put into operation on two routes in Hanoi from June 1.

Old yellow red and yellow buses will be replaced by new blue ones on routes 55A and 55B

According to the Hanoi Transport Service Company (Transerco), the new buses will run on routes 55A (Cau Giay-Times City) and 55B (Cau Giay-Aeon Mall Trade Centre).

The buses are painted blue, have a logo and offer conveniences such as advanced emission standards, free WiFi, Light Emitting Diode bulletin boards showing routes and a Global Positioning System (GPS) that announces stops.

Routes 55A and 55B run every 15 to 20 minutes from 5am to 9pm everyday with ticket price of 7,000 VND (0.3 USD) per trip.

A leading Transerco official said since early this year, the company has launched 166 new buses to provide more cheap and convenient means of public transport for the capital’s citizens.

From June 1, Transerco expands the itinerary of 22A (Gia Lam bus station-Big C Thang Long Trade Centre), 22B (Kien Hung Urban Area-My Dinh coach station) and 22C (Giap Bat coach station-Duong Noi Urban Area of The Sparks Nam Cuong apartment building) routes.

Nguyen Hoang Hai, director of the Hanoi Urban Traffic Management Centre, said the route changes were aimed at better accessibility to urban areas and transport of passengers to promote operation of Bus Rapid Transit route Kim Ma-Yen Nghia.
