The northern region, including Hanoi, is forecast to see heavy rains in several days to come, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Many streets in Hanoi flooded seriously on June 13 morning

The centre said that from the evening of June 15 to June 18, heavy thunderstorms are likely to happen in the northern region and the northern central province of Thanh Hoa due to the impacts of tropical depressions.

Hail and tornadoes are forecast to occur in some mountainous areas during this time.

According to the centre, the Thao and Lo rivers may face floods of 2-4 metres. Meanwhile, the water level of the Red River is also expected to rise sharply.

Landslides could also happen at several northwestern localities such as Lai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Ha Giang.

On the morning of June 13, many streets in Hanoi were flooded due to heavy rain.
