HÀ NỘI — HCM City 1 crushed HCM City 2 7-0 in the first match of the National Women’s Football Championship - Thái Sơn Bắc Cup held at the August 19 Stadium in Nha Trang City in central province of Khánh Hoà on Tuesday.

Just five minutes in, captain Huỳnh Như beat goalie Mai Mi Mi to score the opener for HCM City 1.

The early goal gave HCM City 1 momentum to play more actively. They easily raised the score to 4-0 before the end of the first half.

HCM City 1 continued to assert their dominance with one goal from Hoài Lương and two from Huỳnh Như in the second half.

With this win, HCM City 1 top the rankings with three points, followed by Phong Phú Hà Nam and Việt Nam Coal and Mineral.

On Thursday, defending champions Phong Phú Hà Nam will face Thái Nguyên and Việt Nam Coal and Mineral will take on Sơn La.

Seven teams are competing in the annual event. They will vie for a trophy and VNĐ300 million (US$13,000) in cash. — VNS
